Career Guidance
MBA is a professional degree which needs to get you a job once finished. Unlike Masters in some fields which can be pursued to learn more and deeper or because of your interest in that field, doing an MBA has very clear job objective or professional improvement which can be applied to family business.
Doing an MBA from a private college is also expensive so it has to be evaluated like an investment decision. And if you have already enrolled into a MBA, you need to make this work for you. See below what may be your need and get in touch for practical, real world guidance from an experienced professional.
Simple and practical career guidance for MBAs to get job-ready
MBA with 2-3 Years Job Experience
You need to evaluate whether you are where you should be. Do you have right skillset to succeed further? Are you in right direction?
Often, you are just one key change away from your dream career path. Finding that element and sharpening your focus on that, is all you may need. My job is to help you identify that element, that one key change or a set of changes.
MBA Placement Interview Guidance
You are at the end of your MBA and placements are not going your way. I am totally familiar with that anxiety. IN my experience, mostly, the reason is not that you lack something big or critical, it is lack of presentation. Despite placecom and other expert sessions, mostly your current CV is not presenting you. Your answers are too rote & standard and like everyone else around you. Most importantly, you are missing the recruiter's perspective.
I work with only individual MBAs as there can be no generalised tips here. Over 5 to 7 days, we may do 3 to 6 sessions to get you to your crack next interview.
MBA First Year
You have maximum flexibility and most time to plan and execute. You need to know your strengths and weaknesses and need to plan your your second year to get the most out your college curriculum and land your dream job. You have time on hand to sharpen your CV for potential recruiters.
I will help you map your ambitions versus college and your CV so far to create a realisitic plan. Time needed varies but it should 2 to 4 sessions over 7 to 10 days and/or prepare a doable career plan over next 6-12 months
MBA Aspirant
MBA from a Tier 2 or Tier 3 or Tier 4 college has to be strategically evaluated. Financially, it is fairly big decision as amount going into MBA can easily be down payment of a flat.
I will help you evaluate your college choices based on your scores and career ambitions. I will also help you create plan for next two years as these years move very fast and suddenly you are facing placements without being fully prepared.
Time needed varies but it should be 1 to 4 sessions over 7 to 10 days to answer key questions like How will MBA help improve your job prospects? How to select the right college for you?
What can you expect from a session
Planning career requires a mix of enthusiasm, caution and strategic choices. You are young so I dont need give you enthusiasm. I will gently point to risks, help you identify your gaps and see if those are worth covering or not. More importantly, you will receive strategic advice from the potential recruiter's perspective. Doing well in an interview is often misunderstoood. Most placement committees and colleges provide some template to handle regular interview questions but often this evolves into standard rote answers as if interview questions are factual exam questions. Every interview is conversation with you and often the candidates are unable to explain themselves with clarity. If you are able to do that more than half of job is done, rest is fitment and some sparks with the panel in front of you.
